  • Social Media Investigations

Social media investigations is defined as a thorough canvass/search of various social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Google Plus, Twitter, and so on. These platforms change at a rapid pace and require someone who is certified to ensure that if the subject has a digital footprint, it is located.

Social media investigations can be used in two ways. One way is to see a subject’s past activities that could predict future activity and the other is to see what may be planned for future events. Also, this is used to learn more about the subject’s interest, what groups or associations the subject is a member of. Also, I like to look at information posted around the date of injury to see what is said about the injury. Sometimes, information like previous injuries, current treatment, attorney information, or a different account of how the injury occurred will be posted.

Social media platforms are constantly evolving and user are moving to the latest and greatest platform. To successfully conduct a social media canvass, the investigator must be a professional who is certified and up to date on the latest tools and techniques to gather the one piece of the puzzle that can change the course of the entire claim.
